Routine Dental Care

The Importance of Hygiene Visits

One of the most critical reasons to visit your dentist routinely is to have your teeth cleaned by a professional hygienist. Even when you take painstaking care to properly brush and floss, some bit of soft and sticky plaque is left behind. Over time, plaque hardens into tartar, which is even more difficult to remove with your average toothbrush and floss. Tartar accumulates below the gumline as well as on the surface of your teeth. Unremoved plaque and tartar increase your risk of more serious infections developing. Recent research shows a definite link between untreated gum disease and other serious conditions like heart disease, stroke, and diabetes. Having your teeth cleaned regularly is one of the easiest things you can do to stay healthy!
